Recognising Your Mission

The challenge for a lot of people who are busy making a living is that they don’t get time to ask themselves the key questions of  ‘what is life all about? What is my purpose? What is my calling? How am I living my life – is it with purpose and clarity or caught up in being busy?

Your mission crystallises, in a short statement, who you are and what you are supposed to be doing with your life.

Your mission statement should be a broadly based enduring statement that distinguishes you from everyone else. It clarifies and articulates your values, dreams and how you aspire to do things.Your mission statement should define your purpose in life. Your mission becomes a way of life for you. It should explain who you are and what you do.

Your mission can be defined as an enduring statement of purpose.

Craft your mission statement by first capturing your thoughts and values in words. You then distil these words into one cogent sentence of not more than 26 words. Reflect on the form of words and the phrase for several days and test its authenticity for you. Purpose is what separates humankind from all other species.

Your mission is like writing your legacy in advance.
