Spirit of Service

Most everybody would like to contribute to improving the world but don’t think they have enough time, money or energy. Have you wanted to give back to your community but weren’t sure how?

spirit of service

Your spirit of service is born out of your inbred desire to make a meaningful contribution to life and the world. It means being part of something bigger rather than just ‘getting by in life’.

It’s not just about the money or deliverables anymore –it’s about being a part the greater connectivity of life.

Your spirit of service is personal but not private; therefore it must be shared with others to enrich both the receiver and the server.

Service comes from the heart and is recognised by your connectivity to your clients. The secret is to connect not just with the head but also with your heart.

Barack Obama in July 2008 summed it up nicely as follows:

‘We need your service right now, in this moment – our moment – in history. I’m not going to tell you what your role should be; that’s for you to discover. But I am going to ask you to play your part; ask you to stand up; ask you to put your foot firmly into the current history’

5 tips to help you achieve a Spirit of Service:

1. Define clearly what is really important in your life

2. Only work on your core priorities

3. Take time out to nurture self – lest your spirit ‘runs on empty’

4. Share your gifts and spirituality with others

5. Plan recreation to smell the roses and to maintain harmony and spirit in your life.

It is said that in order to receive you must first give.

Are you giving of yourself to those around you both in a professional and personal context?

Have you considered the intangible rewards of giving?
